Traveling with children

Pre-Boarding
First to board. Traveling with children involves additional hand-baggage and it is always rather complicated to get everyone into their seat. Pre-boarding has therefore been introduced: when the aircraft is ready, families with children may board before other passengers, giving you more time to put away your things and settle in your seats.

Baby Carriages
Your baby may stay in its carriage right up to the door of the aircraft. The carriage is then taken away and will be ready and waiting for you when you disembark at your destination.
On board entertainment
A number of surprises are available to help younger passengers spendind the time on the aircraft. This includes coloring books, pencils, games. The children's music channel is also available on Airbus A340 with all the latest hits. Children will love it.

Baby Specials
Nappies, bottles, cots, meals, bibs, babies are very special passengers, and we given them a well-deserved attention. Our long-haul fleet is equipped with cots. When making your reservation, please remember to request a cot for your baby's comfort (the number of cots on board is limited and the baby’s weight cannot exceed 10 Kg). For your baby we have everything: bottles, nappies, toys, and meals in pots. On short-haul flights we supply a special meal for your baby, provided a request is made at the same time as the booking.

Meals On Board
Children have different tastes. That's why we serve meals especially designed for them. For children between 2-7 of age these meals are automatically embarked. For children between 8-12 years of age, special meals must be requested when making your bookings.

Unaccompanied Minor

Flying alone. Do not worry if you're unable to accompany your child, we will give him/her all our attention. Children between the ages 5 to 11 (inclusive) may fly with the status of "Unaccompanied Minor". Please remember to state that the child will be travelling alone, when making the booking. Special assistants will be at check-in, and accompany the child to the aircraft. Then, the cabin crew will take over. The child remains with us on arrival, until handed over to a member of the family, or whosoever has been indicated as responsible to take over, only under identification. This service can be extended to youngsters up to the age of 17, on request.
This service involves additional charges.

Flying Accompanied

If the child is more than 3 months and less than 5 years of age, it is still possible to fly alone, using our personal companion service. From check-in at the airport to meeting with family at the final destination, a TAP Portugal employee will accompany the child, going through check-in, customs and during the flight.
This service involves additional charges.

Pregnant Passengers - Expectant mothers
If the pregnancy is normal, an expectant mother may travel with us up to 36 weeks, with no red tape other, than her doctor's letter agreement. Beyhond 36 weeks, the authorization of our health services or of a doctor chosen by TAP Portugal, is required.
